Lessons in the "English" riding disciplines are rooted in the classical riding of the cavalry dating back as far as 400 B.C.  Xenophon wrote that a good riding position was necessary for the horse to remain in balance.  Personal discipline and tact were your tools of training.  His small book of advice is true today.  The training of the horse and rider is a life time adventure and an Olympic challenge.

Lessons Horsemastership includes collecting the horse, tacking up, horse management, riding, and putting the horse away.  This is all classical horsemastership and important to the ideal of achieving a responsible partnership with your horse.  We specialize in development of the entry-level student and their partnership with their horse or ours. Entry level can be defined as new to riding and or new to a certain descipline with-in the sport. Advanced classes include dressage development, lungeing, jumping, musical exhibition, handicapped or disabled, first-aid and management, and we have classes for instructors.

Everyone at Chase Meadow Farm wears a safety helmet and leather footwear with a heel.   Gloves are important to protect your hands and our horses mouths. Sweats or stretch pants are OK until you acquire proper attire.  NO Jeans - they hold your muscles too tight and the coarse seam ruins our saddles.  We will supply gloves and a hard hat for the first few lessons. All participants in our programs will understand that horses are dangerous animals due to their size and fight flight instincts and will hold harmless Chase Meadow Farm and its owners, instructors, and agents.  We do not offer unannounced access to our home based facility.

Training We offer a unique, beginner through advanced, mentoring/training system.  We train both the horse and the rider in the skills and standards of the classical tradition. Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, United States Pony Club, and Fox Hunting are the declared sports of our clients. The goal of our service is to address the needs of the horse and prepare him for the goals of the rider/owner.

This starts with an individual feeding program, bedding on wood shavings, attention to safety and health, and turn out as possible.  The riders are invited to join in one or two group or one private lesson each week.  Extra lessons may be scheduled at the above rates. This service is $200/week or $650.00 and up a month and does not include veterinary care, worming, shoeing, or lungeing and riding by the instructors. All minors must be supervised.
